Day of Goodbyes and Gratitude: The Final Day at Snehatheeram
On the last day of our community service program at Snehatheeram, we had the opportunity to conduct a cultural program that included both the residents and volunteers. It was an incredibly joyful experience as we participated in dancing, singing, and anchoring, and the residents showcased their talents as well. Their performances were filled with energy and enthusiasm, proving that despite the challenges they face, they are incredibly talented and full of life. The day was emotionally charged as we exchanged heartfelt thanks and good wishes with the residents. Later in the afternoon, Sister Roseline visited and interacted with us, expressing her gratitude for our efforts and handing out community service certificates. As a token of appreciation, we presented a donation by representing our college. I also had the chance to teach Basic Science to a 6th-grade student, which was a fulfilling experience, especially since biology is my subject of interest. As the day came to a close, I felt a deep sense of sadness knowing that it was our last day at Snehatheeram, as I had formed strong emotional bonds with the children and residents, and the thought of leaving them was difficult.
Day 5, the last day of community service at Snehatheeram was a day of emotions, gratitude, and final reflections. It was the culmination of our community service experience, and although we were sad to leave, we knew we had made a positive impact on the lives of the residents and children at Snehatheeram. The connections we made, the lessons we learned, and the memories we created will stay with us for a long time.

Building Bonds: Day 4 at Snehatheeram Through Teaching and Service
On the second last day of our community service program at Snehatheeram, I continued working closely with the children, focusing on teaching Mathematics for a 5th-grade. She was very interactive, and we had meaningful conversations as she shared details about her life. Teaching her was incredibly rewarding as she showed great enthusiasm for learning. In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to serve lunch to the residents, which was a humbling experience. This gave me a deeper connection to the community and further insight into their daily lives. Arun sir and Shijini teacher visited to monitor our activities, and we took photos to capture the memorable moments. At the end of the day, we gathered for a reflection session, where we shared our experiences with the teachers. It was fulfilling to talk about the impact the program had on me and the lessons I had learned so far.
Day 4 was another fulfilling day, with meaningful interactions, valuable lessons, and a sense of accomplishment.

Day 3 at Snehatheeram: Emotional Connections and Uplifting Moments
On the third day of our community service at Snehatheeram, I had the opportunity to visit the separate building where mentally challenged residents are staying.Today, we were joined by Sithusha teacher and Vismaya teacher from our college to monitor our activities and guide us through the community service program. It was a new and emotional experience as I interacted with the residents, many of whom were undergoing treatment. I spent time with babies and helped the residents by making chains,a therapeutic activity. The affection they showed, with some residents calling me "chechi" (sister), helped me feel more comfortable. I also witnessed a heartbreaking moment when a baby called out to her mother, "Amma, Amma." However, her mother, who suffers from mental illness, was unable to respond. It was a deeply emotional experience, and it reminded me of the importance of love, care, and attention for children, especially at such a young age.Afterward, I assisted in serving lunch to the residents, which was uplifting and heartwarming. In the afternoon, I focused on teaching a 6th-grade student, Mathematics, preparing him for his annual exam for the following day. The day ended with a visit to the chapel, a peaceful space for prayer and shared our experiences with teachers.
It was another enriching day that deepened my connection with the residents and students of Snehatheeram.

A Heartfelt Start to Community Service at Snehatheeram, Vilakudy
On the first day of our community service program at Snehatheeram, Vilakudy, we were introduced to the facility and its mission of uplifting women from disadvantaged backgrounds and a care home for children. We began our visit by interacting with the Sister Roselin, who founded Snehatheeram. She shared with us the history and background of the organization, giving us a deeper understanding of the mission and vision behind this initiative. Watch, Learn, and Break the Silence: The Need to Teach Menstruation
In our fast-evolving world, education plays a pivotal role in shaping the mindset of young minds. While academic subjects form the foundation, life skills and awareness about essential topics are equally important. One such critical topic that often gets overlooked in school curricula is Sex Education and Menstrual Awareness.
Menstruation is a natural biological process, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood and stigmatized topics in society. As future educators, we believe it's essential to break the silence and promote awareness, especially in school environments.
Video shooting, editing and uploading is a part of our B.Ed second semester curriculum, our group—Shamna Shams, Arunima M. S., Soja S. Joy, Riya Geevarghese, and Manna Mariam Johns—chose to focus on "The Importance of Teaching About Menstruation."
Title : เดเดฐു เดชുเดคിเดฏ เดคുเดเด്เดം
➤Why This Topic?
Menstruation is a part of life for half the population, yet it’s often shrouded in myths, misconceptions, and cultural taboos. Lack of proper education leads to feelings of embarrassment, confusion, and even health issues.
Teaching about menstruation in schools can:
✹Promote Hygiene and Health: Students learn the basics of menstrual health, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of tracking their cycles.
✹Break the Stigma: Open discussions help dismantle the shame often associated with menstruation.
✹Empower Young Girls: Knowledge fosters confidence, reduces anxiety, and helps girls feel more in control of their health.
➤The Impact We Hope to Create :
✦Foster an environment where students can openly discuss menstrual health without fear or embarrassment.
✦Encourage schools to include menstrual education in their curricula.
✦Empower both boys and girls with knowledge, promoting empathy and understanding.
"เดเดฐു เดชുเดคിเดฏ เดคുเดเด്เดം" (A New Beginning) is a video symbolizes our hope for a future where menstruation is no longer a taboo but a topic of knowledge, acceptance, and respect.
Let’s take this step together toward breaking the silence and creating a healthier, more informed generation.
