A Bittersweet Goodbye: Our Final Day at St. Gregorios H.S.

On the last day of our school induction, we felt a sense of sadness as our time at St. Gregorios H.S. came to an end. Over the past few days, we had built connections with the students and faculty, and the experience had been truly enriching. From interacting with the students to assisting with their activities, we had gained valuable insights into the school environment.
The support and respect we received from everyone made this journey unforgettable.

Saying goodbye was difficult, but we left with cherished memories and a deeper understanding of the teaching profession.

Day 4 of Induction: The Effects of a Strike and Our Meeting with the Principal (H.S.S. Section)

On the fourth day of our school induction, there was a strike, so the students did not come to school. This gave us the opportunity to interview the principal of the Higher Secondary School, which is located in a separate building near the H.S. section. His name is Abey Daniel Sir, and he was very friendly, providing us with all the information we needed about the school.

We also learned about the challenges faced by the teachers during the strike. While the students were absent, the teachers still came to school and worked until the evening, just like any other day.

With no students around, the school felt somewhat dull and boring.

From Interviews to Activities: A Productive Day at St. Gregorios H.S.

On the third day of our school induction, we had the opportunity to officially interview the Headmistress "Rubymol Teacher " to collect valuable data about the school.

We learned that the school holds assemblies on Mondays in Malayalam, Wednesdays in English, and Fridays in Hindi. The school has a strong track record of achievements in both arts and sports, and they offer various clubs and the Junior Red Cross (JRC) for students.

We were also fortunate to be a part of these activities, assisting students with Urdu recitation and group songs as they prepared for the Sub-District Kalolsavam.

It was an enriching experience, and we felt privileged to contribute to their preparations.

Becoming a Teacher: My Unforgettable Experience on Day 2

On the second day of our school induction, we had the chance to interact with the students, and they were incredibly friendly. It was a new experience as they called us "teacher," which made us feel both honored and connected to our future roles. We interviewed students from various classes to learn more about their experiences, and while the student strength was relatively low, the dedication of the teachers was truly commendable. They employ various innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience. Today we got chance to learn more about the school .

An unforgettable moment today was when the principal called us "teacher," a gesture that reminded us of our course and the respect that comes with it.

The highlight of the day was when I got the chance to take a class, which was both thrilling and enlightening.I got instant feedbacks from students.

A Memorable Start: Our School Induction at St. Gregorios H.S

Our school induction program took place from 24/10/2024 to 30/10/2024, and the first day was a memorable experience. My group member, Akshara, and I chose St. Gregorios H.S., Kottarakkara, which is conveniently located near our college. On the first day, we had the opportunity to interact with the principal and the faculty members, who were very welcoming and eager to share their experiences and we got chance to observe our senior's class due to the lack of permanent Biology teacher at that School.

The warm reception from the school staff made us feel comfortable and excited for the upcoming days, and we looked forward to learning more about the school's environment and its educational practices.

Discovering History: A Visit to the Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial Museum

On 19th October 2024, I had the opportunity to visit the Veluthampi Dalawa Memorial Museum in Mannady, a monument that honors the legacy of the great freedom fighter Veluthampi Dalawa.

Our knowledgeable guide, Ms. Lekshmi, provided a detailed account of Dalawa's life, highlighting his crucial role in resisting British colonial rule. The museum showcased a rich collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of Kerala’s struggle for independence. Lekshmi’s insights brought the exhibits to life, making the visit both educational and inspiring, leaving me with a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by leaders like Veluthampi Dalawa in shaping our history.

A heartfelt thank you to Riju Sir, our principal, for organizing this enriching visit, allowing us to connect with our history in such a meaningful way.

Exploring Knowledge Beyond the Classroom: A Field Visit

On 4th October 2024, our B.Ed class embarked on an insightful field visit, designed to complement our theoretical learning with real-world experiences.

The day began with a visit to the Napier Museum, where we explored a fascinating collection of art, historical artifacts, and cultural heritage, providing a deeper understanding of how museums can be used in education to bring history and culture to life.

Our next stop was the Sree Chithra Enclave, an area dedicated to environmental conservation, which highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability and eco-conscious practices into our teaching approach.

We then moved on to the Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium, a key destination related to our Natural Science curriculum. Here, we gained hands-on knowledge of marine life and ecosystems, enhancing our understanding of biodiversity and environmental science.

The Kerala Arts and Crafts Village was our next stop, where we saw traditional artisans at work, creating beautiful local crafts. This visit emphasized the value of preserving cultural heritage and how we, as educators, can introduce students to local art forms.
