Grateful Hearts Say Thank You, Praveena Teacher

Today was an emotional day for all of us. Our beloved class teacher, Dr. Praveena, officially left the college after receiving her appointment order to the DIET (General Education) Department. While we feel proud beyond words, a quiet sadness filled our hearts as we realised that our two-year journey with her has reached a turning point.

We felt truly honoured to be her students. To share her happiness, she distributed sweets, spreading warmth and excitement among everyone. As a token of love and appreciation, our Natural Science batch organised a small surprise with a cake-cutting ceremony, making the moment memorable and inspiring.

Today, however, the joy came with tears. Watching her leave the campus was not easy, but we know this step is well deserved. Her dedication, humility, and excellence will continue to inspire us. Though she moves on to a new role, the lessons she taught us and the memories we shared will remain forever.

With heavy hearts and proud smiles, we wish you all the very best, Teacher๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿซถ

๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ปDesigning a Digital Chapter on Movements๐Ÿƒ‍♀️

Movement: A Digital Science Chapter

A digital textbook chapter titled “Movements” was developed for Class 9 with the aim of presenting scientific concepts in a clear and structured digital format. The chapter focuses on helping learners understand movement as a fundamental characteristic of living organisms.

  • The content covers movements in microorganisms, animals, and plants.
  • Explanations are presented in simple and age-appropriate language.
  • Visual aids and illustrations support better conceptual clarity.
  • Thinking questions are included at the beginning of the chapter.
  • Activities and extended activities encourage observation and application of ideas.
  • MCQs and practice questions are provided for self-assessment.
  • The digital format supports interactive and learner-centered learning.

The development of this digital textbook highlighted the importance of presenting scientific concepts in an engaging and accessible manner. Structuring content with visuals, activities, and assessment elements helps learners move beyond rote learning and encourages deeper understanding. This work reinforces the value of well-designed digital resources in supporting effective and meaningful science learning.

E-Content Video on Pollination

Pollination: Nature’s Way of Reproduction

As part of the B.Ed. curriculum, I developed an e-content video on the topic “Pollination” for Class 8. The purpose of selecting this topic and presenting it through digital media was to help students understand an essential biological process in an interesting and meaningful way.

๐ŸŒฟ Importance of Pollination๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ

  • Pollination is a basic reproductive process in flowering plants.

  • It leads to the formation of seeds and fruits.

  • Pollination is essential for food production and agriculture.

  • It helps in maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance.
  • Pollinators such as bees, butterflies, birds, wind, and water play a vital role in this process.
  • Understanding pollination creates environmental awareness among students.

๐ŸŒผ Reason for Choosing the Topic๐ŸŒผ

  • Pollination is an important concept in the Class 8 Biology syllabus.
  • It is closely related to students’ daily life experiences, such as flowers, fruits, and insects.
  • The topic allows the use of diagrams, animations, and experiments.
  • It helps in developing scientific curiosity and observation skills.
  • The concept is simple yet meaningful, making it suitable for digital learning.

๐ŸŽฅ Why E-Content for This Topic

  • Visual representation helps students understand abstract processes easily.
  • Animations clearly show the movement of pollen grains.
  • Diagrams support better concept clarity and retention.
  • Digital content increases student engagement and interest.
  • E-content promotes self-paced and independent learning.

๐ŸŒŸ Learning Outcome

  • Students gain a clear understanding of pollination and its types.
  • They recognize the importance of pollinators.
  • Learners develop respect for nature and the environment.
  • The lesson becomes interactive, enjoyable, and memorable.

Preparing this e-content video helped me realize the value of integrating technology into teaching. It also reinforced the importance of pollination as a life-supporting process that connects plants, animals, and humans. This digital resource successfully enhanced classroom learning and student engagement.

Week 5 Highlights: Celebration, Observation and Growth

Weekly Reflection
Week 5 (01 December – 05 December 2025)

Day 1 – Monday (01/12/2025)
The fifth week of teaching practice began with a special morning assembly, which lasted nearly one hour. The assembly was organised to celebrate the District Kalolsavam 2025–26 achievements of Government High School, Thalachira. Following the assembly, a victory rally was also conducted as part of the celebration.
As per the timetable, I was assigned the first period in Class 9B, but I could not take the class due to the extended assembly and rally. Later, I was allotted a substitution period. After the academic sessions, I actively participated in the midday meal serving and student dispersal duties along with my peers.

Day 2 – Tuesday (02/12/2025)
Today was a routine working day. I did not have any scheduled classes according to the timetable; however, I was allotted a substitution period, which gave me an opportunity to interact with students in an informal and supportive manner. In the afternoon, I responsibly carried out the midday meal serving and dispersal duties.

Day 3 – Wednesday (03/12/2025)
Today was a significant and memorable day in my teaching practice, as my class in Class 9B was observed by Dhanya Teacher. I handled the topic “Different Types of Joints.” The observation helped me reflect on my teaching strategies, and the teacher provided valuable and constructive feedback for further improvement. On the same day, David’s and Keerthy’s classes were also observed. In addition, I had a scheduled class in Class 8A, where the interaction with students was effective and engaging. As usual, I participated in the midday meal serving and dispersal duties in the afternoon. The day ended on a joyful note as we received a treat from the office staff member, Mr. Aromal, in celebration of his appointment as a Kerala University Assistant.

Day 4 – Thursday (04/12/2025)
Today, I was assigned a substitution period. After completing the observation-related responsibilities, I continued with my regular school duties, gaining further exposure to the daily functioning of the school.

Day 5 – Friday (05/12/2025)
On the final day of the week, I had scheduled periods in Class 9, along with a few substitution periods. I also performed the midday meal serving and dispersal duties in the afternoon.
After this day, we returned to college for a short break due to examinations and are scheduled to resume teaching practice in January.

Week 5 of teaching practice was filled with celebrations, observations, classroom engagement, and meaningful interactions. The observation session and feedback contributed greatly to my professional growth, while participation in school activities and duties strengthened my understanding of the multifaceted role of a teacher. The week concluded with a brief academic break, preparing us for the next phase of teaching practice.
