Weekly Reflection Week 3 (28 July 2025 – 01 August 2025)
Day 1 (04/08/2025)
The fourth week began with the Monday morning assembly. Today’s assembly ran longer than usual because it was a moment of celebration for the whole school. Trophies were awarded to the winners of the sub-district level quiz competition, and the pride and joy on the faces of the students and teachers were truly heartwarming. The atmosphere was filled with applause and cheer. In addition to my scheduled classes, I was entrusted with two substitution periods, where I engaged with the students to keep them active and attentive. As always, I also carried out my daily responsibilities, which are now becoming a natural part of my school routine.
Day 2 (05/08/2025)
It was a calm and steady day. According to my timetable, I did not have any teaching periods scheduled, but I was assigned substitution classes. This gave me the opportunity to interact with different groups of students outside my regular classes, helping me better understand their learning styles and personalities. It was a reminder that even on seemingly ordinary days, a teacher’s presence in the classroom can make a difference.A notable event of the day was the General PTA meeting held at the school auditorium, during which new PTA members were selected.
Day 3 (06/08/2025)
Today was a significant milestone in my teaching practice, as we had an observation by our general teacher from college, Arun Sir. According to my timetable, I did not have a class in 9B, but our mentor teacher, showing her support, arranged the schedule so that I could present my lesson, even though she was not present in school today. We were a bit tense since an unexpected power outage meant I couldn’t use the projector as planned. However, I adapted quickly, delivering the lesson using my laptop, charts, and other teaching aids.
I taught the topic “Structure of Villus” in the second period, incorporating a variety of audio-visual aids such as a still model, educational videos, charts, and activity cards to make the lesson engaging and clear. My peers, Keerthy and David, took their observation classes in the third and fourth periods respectively. Arun Sir gave each of us valuable feedback, highlighting strengths and suggesting areas for improvement. His words reassured me that adaptability and resourcefulness are just as important as preparation in teaching.
Day 4 (07/08/2025)
The day began as usual, with a calm start. Today, our peer Keerthy had her observation session with her optional teacher, Ms. Sreelakshmi. Her class took place during the third period, and I supported her by helping with the arrangements and ensuring her materials were ready. The observation went smoothly, and it was inspiring to watch her handle her lesson with confidence. The rest of the day was spent performing our regular duties and taking a few substitution classes when needed.
Day 5 (08/08/2025)
Today was a break from the regular academic routine—it was all about sports, energy, and teamwork. The school grounds came alive with excitement as race competitions were held for different student categories. Together with our mentor teachers, Smitha Teacher and Sajeev Sir, we coordinated and conducted the events. The LP kiddies and LP mini kiddies races took place on the school ground, while the UP kiddies, junior, and sub-junior races were held at a venue opposite the school.
It was a busy and physically demanding day, with a large number of students participating enthusiastically. Some children became tired after their events, and we took care to ensure they rested and stayed hydrated. Though tiring, it was a rewarding experience that reminded me that a teacher’s role extends well beyond academics. Being part of the students’ joy, enthusiasm, and competitive spirit was deeply fulfilling, and it strengthened my bond with them in a different, more personal way.
Week 4 was a rewarding blend of teaching challenges, observation experiences, and active participation in school events, helping me grow as a confident and adaptable educator. It reinforced the importance of flexibility and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
