Celebrating the Joy of Reading: National Reading Day at Our College๐Ÿ“š

The National Reading Day celebration was organized by the Malayalam Department of our college on 2:30 PM at the General Hall.
 The program began with a brief introduction about the importance of Reading Day by Sandra from the Malayalam Department, followed by a prayer song. Akhil Sir delivered the welcome address, and the event was officially inaugurated by Fr. Simon Lukose, who also shared the Reading Day message. Sheeja teacher offered a felicitation, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Anupama from the Malayalam Department. 

After the official session, a reading competition was held in which students from the Social Science Department won the first and second prizes, and students from the Mathematics Department secured the third prize. 

The entire program was meaningful, entertaining, and successfully promoted the joy of reading among students.

Let the Model Exams Begin!

Today, our Semester 2 Model Examination begins and will continue from June 12 to June 18, 2025. This is an important period for all of us as it helps evaluate our preparation and understanding of the subjects we've studied throughout the semester. It's also a great opportunity to identify areas for improvement before the final exams. 


Let’s stay focused, manage our time effectively, and do our best.

Day 4: Wrapping Up with Concept Attainment

Today marked the final day of our Criticism Class. Manna and Vismaya conducted their sessions using the Concept Attainment Model, each presenting different topics effectively. Their classes were allowed us to observe how concept development can be guided through examples and non-examples.


After the teaching sessions, we had our Physical Education practical examination, bringing the day to a close with both academic and physical assessments. 

It was a fitting end to an enriching phase of observation, learning, and collaboration.

Day 3: Learning Through Inquiry and Participation

Today, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, we participated as students in model teaching sessions conducted by peers from the Physical Science and English departments. It was a valuable experience that gave us insight into different teaching approaches and classroom management styles. In the afternoon, we returned to our own class to observe our peers Fathima and Feba as they presented their lessons using the Inquiry Training Model. 

Overall, it was a day of active participation and meaningful observation.

Rooted in Responsibility: Celebrating World Environment Day

The World Environment Day Celebration at Baselios Marthoma Mathews II Training College, Kottarakara, was held on 5th June 2025, with active participation from students, faculty, and guest.The program was conducted by the Department of Natural Science and Physical Science.

The program commenced at 2:15 PM with a symbolic tree planting ceremony. A Mango sapling was planted by Sri. Riju John and Rev. Fr. Simon Lukose, signifying the start of the celebration and emphasizing the importance of tree planting for environmental conservation. Following this, a Eugenia sapling was planted by the Union members, encouraging collective responsibility towards nature.  

  
The official function was held in the General Hall and was anchored by me. The program began with a prayer rendered by Ajini, Jessy, and Soja, setting a serene tone for the event. Ms. Karthika M. G. delivered the welcome address, greeting all dignitaries and attendees. Sri. Riju John delivered the presidential address, highlighting the urgent need for environmental awareness and sustainable living. The event was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Simon Lukose, who shared insightful thoughts on environmental stewardship and the role of individuals in preserving nature.  
  

An environmental pledge was then administered by Akshara S., reinforcing the participants' commitment to protecting the planet. The felicitation session featured inspiring words from Smt. Sheeja Chacko, Smt. Smitha M. S., and Mr. Albin K. Alexander, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged everyone to be active participants in green initiatives. The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Praveena M., who expressed gratitude to all guests, faculty members, students, and participants for making the event a success.  
  
Following the official program, department-wise competitions were conducted to engage students in environment-themed activities. These included a Puzzle competition and the Green Brain Battle (Quiz). The English Department secured the first prize in the Puzzle competition, while the Department of Mathematics came in second. In the Green Brain Battle, the Mathematics Department won the first prize, followed by the Social Science Department in second place. All winners were awarded seedlings as prizes, symbolizing growth and sustainability. The prize distribution was carried out by Smt. Praveena M. and Smt. Smitha M. S.  
  

The program concluded at 3:45 PM, leaving the participants with a renewed sense of environmental responsibility and a commitment to contributing positively to the planet’s well-being.

The World Environment Day celebration served as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to nurture nature and inspired participants to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future.




Teaching Models in Action: Day 2 Highlights

On the second day of our Criticism Class, Anu, Arunima, and Kabani had their turn to present. Anu and Arunima conducted their lessons using the 5E Model, each selecting different topics to effectively demonstrate the phases of Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. Kabani presented a class based on the Inductive Thinking Model, encouraging critical thinking and pattern recognition among her learners. We observed each session carefully and noted feedback for improvement.

 Following our observations, we visited other departments to participate as students in their model teaching sessions. In the afternoon, the Environment Day program commenced with various activities and presentations. 

It was a productive day that combined academic engagement with environmental awareness.

Criticism Class of Models of Teaching (Phase 2), Day 1

Today marked the beginning of Phase 2 of our Criticism Class on Models of Teaching. Out of four students scheduled to conduct classes, only Akshara was able to proceed due to a strike that affected participation. Akshara delivered a lesson using the Concept Attainment Model on the topic "Parts of the Human Respiratory System," with students from the Physical Science department acting as her class. They responded positively and engaged well with the lesson. We observed her teaching closely and took detailed criticism notes for reflection. 


After the class, our small group began preparations for tomorrow’s Environment Day program. I contributed by preparing the program schedule and helping with some of the decoration work.

Overall, it was a meaningful day where we not only observed effective teaching practices but also contributed as a team towards the upcoming Environment Day, blending academic growth with collaborative spirit.
